Resource Center for Independent Living is adding a position, thanks to a three-year grant from the Jones Testamentary Trust.
The grant amount of $190,000 will fund a youth specialist that will serve youths and young adults with disabilities. Duties will include helping youths achieve independent living goals by helping with paperwork, job searches, preparing resumes, interview skills and work skills.
Lyon County will have access to the specialist during the first year of the grant, with Osage and Coffey counties involved afterward.
RCIL first opened in Carbondale in 1984. It now has offices across eastern Kansas, including Emporia and Osage City.
