The Emporia High boys basketball team overcame a 10 point 2nd half deficit to out score McPherson 63-55 in overtime to win the sub-state semi-finals.
Emporia High jumped out to a 6-0 lead but would end up trailing 18-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Spartans trailed 29-22 at the half and 43-40 going to the 4th quarter. The game was tied at 50 after regulation.
Coach Beau Welch was pleased with the way the Spartans battled.
Emporia High went the freethrow line 24 times making 14 of them. Charles Snyder scored 27 points to lead the Spartans, Beau Baumgardner added 14 points and Hunter Hines finished with 11 points.
Emporia High will play at Andover Friday night. Andover defeated Wichita Northwest 92-68.
