Unemployment markers are holding low — and holding steady — across Kansas, according to Labor Secretary Dehlia Garcia.
In her monthly statement, Garcia says the January 2020 unemployment rate continues trends seen last year.
The January 2020 rate was slightly lower than the 3.3 percent seen in January 2019.
The unemployment numbers were low but came up a bit for Emporia — from 3.2 percent in December to 3.7 percent in January — and for Lyon County, which went from 3.1 percent to 3.7 percent.
Areawide, county unemployment numbers all climbed. Chase County remains the lowest at 3.1 percent, up from 2.7 percent in December. Coffey County is the highest at 5.3 percent. Wabaunsee County had the biggest jump, from 2.9 percent to an even 4 percent.
