The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with William Jewell Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets won the first game 9-1 in 6 innings.
Kelsey Phillips drove in 2 runs with a single in the first inning then added a 2 run home run in the 5th inning and ended the game driving in 2 runs with a single in the 6th. Phillips was 3 for 4 with 6 RBI.
Kerrigan Dixon was the winning pitcher giving up 1 run on 3 hits.
William Jewell won the 2nd game 4-2. Roni Rains drove in both runs in the 4th inning. The Lady Hornets did strand 10 baserunners.
Emporia State Coach April Rosales says they need to more consistent.
The Lady Hornets are now 16-9 for the season. They will host Washburn Friday in a doubleheader.
