The Olpe girls have advanced to the Championship semi-finals of the 1A State tournament after their 59-43 win over Norwich in the first round Thursday.
The Lady Eagles had a slow start, leading 11-7 after the first quarter. They would lead 28-19 at halftime. By the end of the 3rd quarter Olpe held a 49-34 lead. In the 4th quarter Olpe would extend their lead to 18 points. Olpe forced Norwich into 22 tournovers and scored 28 points off the turnovers. Olpe Coach Jesse Nelson felt they did play well at times.
Olpe had four players score in double-figures led by Macy Smith and Maya Bishop with 14 points each. Marley Heins added 12 points and Neleh Davis finished with 10 points.
Olpe would be making their 19th final 4 appearance. They would have played Centralia in the semi-finals. Centralia out scored Cunningham 48-46 in overtime.
Olpe finishes their season with a record of 26-0. One of two undefeated teams in class 1A. Central Plains also finished with a record of 26-0.
Nemaha Central out scored the Osage City girls 45-35 at the 3A tournament.
