A day after Newman Regional Health announced several event cancellations due to coronavirus, the hospital’s Auxiliary Department announced it was closing.
Volunteer Coordinator Deb Storrer says all sections of the Auxiliary are closing until further notice because volunteers “will be put at high risk of infection.” The department will reopen once hospital administrators deem it safe to do so.
Newman Regional Health had already announced the Auxiliary’s March board meeting was canceled as part of a string of adjustments Friday afternoon. Other schedule adjustments or operations changes announced Friday:
*The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Newman Regional Health Medical Partners Orthopedics and Sports Medicine/OrthoKansas is officially canceled, but there are plans to reschedule at a later date
*Breastfeeding Support Group meetings are canceled until further notice. Patients are told to call the Women’s Life Center at 343-6800 ext. 24477 with questions or to schedule an appointment
*Becoming a Mom (BAM) classes will be offered online. Prospective students can register at www.newmanrh.org/bam
*Lyon County Community Baby Shower has been officially canceled, but there are plans to reschedule later
*Teddy Bear Clinic has been canceled
*Diabetes Community Health Fair has been officially canceled but there are plans to reschedule later
