The newest event in the United Way of the Flinthills annual fundraising campaign repertoire has organizers confident they will be reaching their goal very soon.
United Way Campaign Drive Chair, and KVOE Station Manager, Ron Thomas announced the new event during KVOE’s Morning Show Friday.
Every weekday there will be a list of nine to 11 different items on the auction block which listeners can bid on from 6 am to 9 am each day. Listeners can submit bids through text utilizing the KVOE Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply text line at 342-5863.
Listeners can also go to KVOE.com now through next week to view the items up for auction as well as track the current bids throughout the auction each day. United Way Director Mickey Edwards joined Friday’s Morning Show alongside Thomas and while she wouldn’t give away exactly where they are in terms of fundraising she says “we are close and i think we are going to get there.”
In a news release from Thursday, Edwards states the United Way will be distributing over $450,000 in grants to the community this year. Edwards says she has continuously been amazed by all of the work done both in Emporia and neighboring communities by their 24 community partners and they are proud to support them in their endeavors.
This year’s campaign goal is $560,000.
