Lyon County is declaring a state of local disaster when it comes to the coronavirus situation.
Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell tells KVOE News this statement deals with resources. Fell says local resources have been impacted due to the coronavirus response, and Lyon County took the step of issuing a disaster declaration anticipating increased competition for critical resources and purchase reimbursements.
The formal document should be issued Monday morning.
Several Kansas counties have issued disaster declarations due to coronavirus this month. Governor Laura Kelly issued a state of emergency in an effort to amass and distribute resources last week.
