The Emporia City Commission will be convening for two sessions Wednesday evening.
Commissioners will begin the night with a study session in city conference room 1AB with the main agenda items including a legislative update and an update regarding commission goal setting. Commissioners will also receive an update on the Riverside Gardens Rural Housing Incentive District.
Additionally, the commission will discuss the second annual Halfway to Everywhere Music and Arts Festival scheduled for Sept. 5.
Following the adjournment of the action session commissioners will move down to the municipal courtroom for an action session where commissioners may award a bid to Emporia Construction and Remodeling Inc. in the amount of $101,176 for the city’s 2020 sidewalk improvement project. Also on the agenda is the acceptance of an agreement with the Emporia Recreation Commission for the 2020 operation of Jones Aquatic Center. However, the item was tabled during the ERC’s monthly meeting Monday evening so the item may also be tabled until it is revisited by rec commissioners at a later time.
Commissioners will also consider action on an ordinance for a beer garden during the 2020 Cinco De Mayo celebration later this year. The study meeting gets underway at 6 pm with the action session following at 7 pm at White Auditorium.
