Renovations continue — for now — on Emporia State University’s Morse Hall complex.
Director of Residence Life Cass Coughlin says the process has gone well since last summer, and so far there hasn’t been any impact on the construction teams from the coronavirus.
Final paint and doors are set to arrive this week.
Crews continue their work on Abigail Morse Hall as part of a larger project to tear down Northeast Morse and Central Morse while refurbishing Abigail Morse, Emporia State’s first residence hall. There had been some consideration to demolishing it with the rest of the complex. However, Coughlin says the building — which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024 — would be expensive to replace and is structurally sound. With that and its history, the decision was made to keep Abigail Morse standing.
