Depending on the board, meetings this week in and around Emporia have either seen increased online availability or seen gatherings added or canceled.
Emporia city commissioners have canceled one of the two meetings they had planned for Wednesday night. The study meeting set for 6 pm has been canceled, with initial plans to roll that agenda into next week’s planned meeting. The action meeting will take place as scheduled at 7 pm at the Municipal Court Room.
Meanwhile, the USD 253 Emporia Board of Education has announced a special board meeting to discuss next steps in light of Governor Laura Kelly’s executive order to close school buildings and halt in-class education effective immediately. The meeting will be at Mary Herbert at 6 pm Wednesday.
USD 251 North Lyon County is encouraging patrons and residents interested in Wednesday night’s meeting at the district board office in Americus to go to the district’s website, www.usd251.org, or use Facebook Live instead of going to the meeting. Agenda items include audits, tobacco policy, a radio upgrade and an executive session on a possible acquisition of real estate. The meeting starts at 7 pm
Lyon County commissioners, meanwhile, have adjusted the agenda for their weekly action session beginning at 9 am Thursday at the County Courthouse. Among requests for purchases for electronic equipment for the Lyon County Fairgrounds, as well as equipment purchases for the Lyon County Highway Department and the annual Federal Forfeiture Fund report commissioners will also discuss changing the courthouse’ availability to the general public as a part of the county’s coronavirus preventive measures.
Osage County commissioners, meanwhile, are scheduling special meetings daily starting Thursday and continuing daily on a Monday through Saturday basis until further notice. Meetings will start at 8:30 am in the Osage County Courthouse.
