Due to coronavirus, Emporia Police are changing their on-the-street operations.
Officers will respond to what Police Sgt. Lisa Sage calls basic, non-emergency calls by phone. The list includes thefts, criminal damage, burglaries to vehicles or dwellings, lost or found property and non-injury wrecks.
Sage made it clear while the operations are adjusting, the police presence locally will not be disappearing.
