The United Way of the Flint Hills’ fundraising campaign is reaching its conclusion, and the late stages of the effort got a boost last week.
The first-ever Live Local, Give Local Auction on KVOE’s Morning Show generated close to $5,000. Auction items were available during KVOE’s Morning Show every day last week. Residents could submit bids by texting the Bluestem Farm and Ranch text line.
Director Mickey Edwards was pleased with how the auction went, saying this will help the United Way’s 24 community partners meet local needs.
Goal is $560,000, and the United Way has said over 80 percent — at least $450,000 — will go directly to the community partners for their work.
