Coronavirus has spiked demand at Abundant Harvest, and with Feinstein Challenge donations down, a $30,000 matching grant comes at a great time.
Rescue Mission Director Lee Alderman says the grant, which kicks into effect if the $30,000 goal is reached, is the largest matching grant in the organization’s history — and it comes with massive demand at Abundant Harvest recently.
Abundant Harvest shifted to a curbside delivery model this week. Alderman says organizers had been making up to 50 meals a night.
The Rescue Mission, meanwhile, is not accepting new clients for the next 30 days. Alderman says there are currently some medically-fragile residents now, and staff don’t want to risk them getting sick.
