One person was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment after a medical assistance call led to Emporia Police deploying a Taser.
Both Emporia Police and Emporia Fire responded to 926 Lawrence shortly after 6:15 pm Friday for a seizure call. Initially, EFD’s rescue team left the scene while officers stayed. Police Sgt. D Dragonas says the man became combative with officers, who used a Taser to subdue him.
Emporia Fire returned to take the subject to Newman Regional Health. Officers have not verified whether the subject will be taken to the Lyon County Detention Center once medical treatment has finished.
