Friday’s incident involving a man who was Tasered has led to the man’s arrest.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says Emporia Fire and EMS and Emporia Police responded to an address in central Emporia for a report of a man having a seizure. Once the medical emergency had cleared, Fire and EMS left the scene. However, as officers were planning to leave, the man came out of a house claiming officers had taken his controlled substances. The man pulled a knife and was Tasered.
The man was taken to Newman Regional Health and later jailed on suspicion of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, possession of controlled substances and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man’s name has not been released.
Formal charges are pending through the Lyon County Attorney’s Office.
