Gas prices continue to come down, although they are sliding faster in some places than others.
Eureka has some of the lowest gas prices in the state, with one station charging $1.25 a gallon — tied for lowest across Kansas — and another charging $1.35.
Other gas prices across the KVOE listening area aren’t nearly that low, but they are still 40-70 cents lower than they were two months ago. Lyndon is at $1.57 a gallon. Lebo is at $1.69 a gallon, while Osage City is at $1.77. Burlington and New Strawn are at $1.79.
Here in Emporia, gas runs between $1.85 and $1.88 a gallon. The national average is $1.99 a gallon.
Gas prices have been falling for most of the past month. A nearly month-long price war continues between Russia and Saudi Arabia. That has oversaturated the supply side while demand has plummeted due to coronavirus.
