Emporia State has closed Welch Stadium and Witten track for community use.
Emporia State in a statement said: they are closing down Welch Stadium to help with the current stay at home order and social distancing mandate.
Although being outside is not restricted under the current mandates, there is concern that people are not maintaining proper social distance while in the stadium and may be sharing exercise equipment.
Welch Stadium and Witten Track will remain closed and all gates will be locked until local health officials deem it safe to re-open.
While the stadium is closed the turf of Jones Field will undergo a thorough cleaning.
