Separate injury accidents Friday morning have led to two people being hospitalized.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says one individual was taken to Newman Regional Health following an accident at mile marker 137 on Interstate-35 shortly before 9:50 am. Conley says the individual had to be extracted from the vehicle but suffered only minor injuries.
Separately a California man was taken from the scene of a slide-off accident at Kansas Turnpike mile marker 147.8 near the Admire Council Grove exit shortly before 9:30 am. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, a south bound 2015 Hyundai Sonata driven by 40-year-old Alexander Harris of Long Beach, CA went off the roadway due to slick conditions and struck the barrier wall.
The vehicle then crossed the center line and entered the north ditch. Harris was taken to Newman with minor injuries he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The driver was taken to Newman with minor injuries. A third injury crash was also reported on Interstate 35, also about five miles east of Emporia, shortly before 11 am. Details on that accident are currently pending.

Wintry precipitation should be wrapping up across the KVOE listening area by Friday afternoon, but not before impacting local and area travel.
A mix of freezing mist, freezing drizzle and sleet fell across the area from after midnight through the morning hours. A crash with reported injuries happened around 9:30 am near the Kansas Turnpike’s Admire-Council Grove toll plaza. A separate injury crash was reported on Interstate 35 about five miles east of the Emporia city limits about 9:45 am. A third injury crash was then reported on Interstate 35, also about five miles east of Emporia, shortly before 11 am. Details on all three crashes are pending.
So far, there have been a handful of slideoff wrecks in Morris County, but no injuries have been reported.
Several highways developed slick spots, including Interstate 35 east of Kansas Highway 130, US Highway 56 west of the Lyon-Chase county line, US Highway 56 west of the Lyon-Osage county line, Kansas Highway 99 north of US-56 and Kansas Highway 31 near Harveyville. KDOT crews have been out for much of Friday morning and Chase County says its crews have been out as well.
