Lloyd Steele, a former girls basketball coach and softball coach at Emporia High School, has passed away. He died on March 7th in Cassville, Missouri. He was 81.
Coach Steele helped begin the Glaciers Edge basketball tournament, which has turned into one of the top girls midseason basketball tournaments in Kansas.
According to his obituary he also taught and coached at Colony and Ottawa and several schools in Missouri. He was inducted into the Kansas Coaches Hall of Fame in 2000.
