Emporia Fire crews responded to their third brush fire in a single day Wednesday evening.
Crews were called to the 2300 block of Road N, 8 miles north of Emporia, shortly before 9 pm for a brush fire. According to Emporia Fire Captain Greg Davis a row of trees in the area caught fire due to unknown reasons.
Davis says crews extinguished a number of hot spots in the area and left the remaining trees to smolder out for the remainder of the night. No injuries were reported.
6 pm Wednesday: Emporia Fire called out to separate brush fires Wednesday
Emporia fire crews responded to two separate brush fires Wednesday afternoon.
Crews responded to a call for a brush fire shortly after 3 pm in the 500 block of Road 150. According to Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage the fire was located in a wooded area and scorched rough 100 yards of grass before it was extinguished.
The fire was not located near any structures and no injuries were reported.
Crews were also dispatched to an additional brush fire in the 1100 block of Road T after 4 pm but were canceled en route.
