An Emporia woman was taken to Newman Regional Health following a two-vehicle accident east of Emporia Monday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Roads N5 and 175, 4 miles east of Emporia for an injury accident shortly after 6 pm. According to Lyon County Deputy Brandon Early, a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by 22-year-old Zulema Renteria was eastbound in the 1300 block of Road 175.
While making a left turn on to Road N5, a 2013 Ford Explorer driven by 28-year-old Jamie Muckenthaler of Lebo struck the left bumper of the Impala.
Renteria was taken to Newman with suspected minor injuries. Both Muckenthaler and Renteria were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Muckenthaler refused a trip to the hospital according to the Emporia Fire Department.
