The shelves are getting bare in a hurry at the Emporia Salvation Army food pantry.
With overflow food from last fall handed out, the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive postponed and an increase in people needing food due to COVID-19’s impact on the local economy, most supplies are now low. The Salvation Army says it needs cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup, breakfast bars, shelf milk, baking items, spaghetti and sauce, canned fruit, peanut butter and jam, and boxed helper meals among other items.
If you can help, call the Salvation Army office at 342-3093 and do so before you drop off your items. Capt. Deb Thompson will have more details on KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Friday.
