After close to 10 days of flat or nearly-flat patient numbers, Lyon County Public Health had a quick rise in that count the past two days.
Public Health noted 10 confirmed positive tests Wednesday followed by another five confirmed patients Thursday, putting the total at 47. There are also 15 probable positive cases, so Public Health is combining those categories in saying there are 62 cases in Lyon County.
On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Friday, Lyon County Public Health Emergency Manager Jennifer Millbern explained what a probable positive case means.
Millbern says the increase in cases this week comes from two reasons — delays in test results coming back to Lyon County Public Health and active community spread. The delay for Public Health has been up to five days, not to the 10-day mark noted a week ago at Newman Regional Health.
With active community spread underway, Millbern urged everybody to “mask up” and wear face masks whenever they are out in public. She also urged residents not to let down their guard on social distancing, even with a lot of talk now at all government levels about reopening the economy.
