Overall, the March report from the Kansas Department of Labor may not reflect a big impact from coronavirus, but Secretary Delia Garcia says there are some concerns already evident.
The overall jobless rate is at 3.1 percent, unchanged from February and down from 3.2 percent in March 2019. However, Garcia says total nonfarm jobs dropped by 5,900 from February and private sector jobs, a subset of that category, dropped by 6,000.
Government jobs increased by 100.
The state’s payroll survey also indicates a loss of around 5,900 jobs with a stable number of households from February to March.
The April jobless report will come out May 22.
