As the coronavirus pandemic continues, Emporia Mayor Danny Giefer is encouraging citizens to do what they can to support local businesses.
Giefer says city leaders are concerned about the number of businesses that have either closed or curtailed their operations over the last month, calling the situation “heartbreaking.”
Giefer also says he expects the virus will have an impact on this year’s budget and future budgets, and he hopes there will be minimal impact on services. He says the city stands in support of Lyon County Public Health in any way it needs, and he closed his message by urging residents to stay safe.
City Manager Mark McAnarney will be on KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Wednesday with an update on COVID-19 from the city’s perspective.
