An equipment malfunction led to nearly 500 Evergy customers in and around Olpe being without power Wednesday morning.
Reports of three separate outages came in around 10 am, with one outage affecting the town itself, one stretching from the Emporia Municipal Airport south to the town and one just southeast of town. Crews had power restored shortly after 11 am, roughly an hour after the outages developed.
Evergy District Services Manager Rolland Trahoon confirmed to KVOE News the cause of the outage was due to a faulty insulator on the mainline which feeds Olpe.

Evergy crews are currently investigating the cause of a trio of power outages in the Olpe area Wednesday morning.

The Olpe area is currently without power.
Evergy is working three separate outages, one affecting the town itself, one stretching from the Emporia Municipal Airport south to the town and one just southeast of town. All told, close to 450 customers are without power.
Reports came in around 10 am. Causes have not been announced, but there has been shower and thundershower activity across the area Wednesday morning. Evergy currently expects the outages will be restored by noon.
