Testing for coronavirus infections is up through efforts at Lyon County Public Health. It’s also up at Newman Regional Health.
On the KVOE-Newman Regional Health COVID-19 Community Briefing on Friday, CEO Bob Wright said the hospital’s average daily test numbers have jumped over the past week or so.
Wright also says traffic has increased again at the Respiratory Clinic and the Drive-Thru testing facility. However, the number of hospitalized patients has remained steady between two and four since April 6.
The hospital still needs cloth masks, and it is still encouraging residents to make those and donate them. It is also expanding a partnership with Emporia State’s Learning Technologies Department, which has been using 3D printers on campus to create medical masks and face masks recently. Learning Technologies is now making swabs to make testing more readily available to more people.
Wright also mentioned the development of a special message board where residents can send their thanks, stories and encouragement to hospital workers at Newman Regional Health and Newman Medical Partners. That online address is www.newmanrh.org/kudos.
The next COVID-19 Community Briefing is at 10:06 am Tuesday on 14 KVOE, 96.9 FM and KVOE-TV at KVOE.com.
