Emporia Fire handled an RV fire that happened outside a local church Saturday.
Firefighters were called to 908 Constitution, Centro Cristiano de Emporia, shortly before 5:30 pm. The RV, parked just east of the church and also between a van and a small shed, had flames under the vehicle at times before the fire was put out.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Tony Fuller says the RV had been sitting dormant for some time. Three family members decided to work on the vehicle and got it started, but a currently undetermined mechanical malfunction started the fire.
The fire damage was limited to the RV, although there was some smoke and radiant heat damage to the van. The shed and church were unaffected.
Nobody was hurt. Names have not been released.
