Super 8 now won’t be used as temporary housing for local coronavirus patients.
Lyon County Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell says Hampton Inn has replaced Super 8. The Kansas Division of Emergency Management says Super 8 withdrew from consideration after signing a contract last week.
Hampton joins La Quinta as so-called “non-congregate” housing. Fell says authorities will not say which hotel will be used for quarantine and which will be used for isolation patients. However, he says this is a voluntary process and the county is glad the resource is available.
Lyon County is working with the Kansas Department of Children and Families and on the hotels.
Fell encourages residents considering a stay in non-congregate housing to drive themselves to the locations if they can, but Public Health has made arrangements to take people who may be shut in or don’t have their own transportation.
