Recently the University of Kansas and Kansas State University athletic departments announced that their top paid employees will be taking salary reductions to help cover the cost of the coronavirus pandemic. Emporia State University has not reached that point yet.
Athletic Director Kent Weiser says salary reductions would a decision to be made further down the road, and one they hopefully won’t have to make.
Weiser says the short term effects could have been worse.
Weiser says the shutdown when it happened was a shock.
Weiser adds the decision on when to return to on-campus workouts and practices will be made for them.
Weiser says the coaches and athletes are doing their best to be ready for when they are allowed to return to campus and start preparing for the next season.
