Work is now underway to “marry up” Lyon County’s plan for resuming normal operations with the guidelines laid out by Governor Laura Kelly on Thursday night.
A special Lyon County Public Health task force is meeting Friday and could announce the county’s plan either Friday or Saturday. Spokesman Jacob Welsh, KVOE’s Newsmaker guest Friday, said Kelly’s decision to gradually leave the statewide stay-home order behind starting Monday morning looks “appropriate,” based on Lyon County’s current situation with almost 220 confirmed positive tests.
The Phase One plan opens restaurants if they can maintain the six-foot social distancing standard among patrons, but that is the only major change between the stay-home order and Phase One of the governor’s plan.
Coffey County has already announced it will adhere to the governor’s plan without changes. Other area counties could also announce their plans either Friday or Saturday, which is important because the governor has said counties can have more restrictive guidelines — not less restrictive — for their citizens than what was announced Thursday.
