Lyon County starts the week with the eighth-most cases of coronavirus in Kansas, according to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
Officially, Lyon County has 248 cases, although there is normally a lag between the county and state numbers. Lyon County Public Health is reporting 227 confirmed and 43 probable positives for a total caseload of 270. One person has died.
Public Health announced Saturday its decision to no longer release case numbers on weekends, so the next announcement should be released by noon Monday.
Across Kansas, Wyandotte County leads the state with 826 cases, followed by Ford County with 815 and Seward County with 547. Johnson and Leavenworth counties each have 498 cases. Finney County has 457 cases and Sedgwick County has 399.
Areawide, Coffey County has 48 total cases, five of which are active. There are eight deaths in Coffey County.
Wabaunsee County has 25 cases with two patients recovered. The county has not recently specified how many cases are linked to Alma Foods, and the wholly-owned subsidiary of Hormel has not said whether it will follow through with announced plans to reopen Monday.
Chase, Greenwood and Morris counties have three cases each. All patients have recovered. Osage County’s five patients have all recovered.
Kansas now has 5,030 confirmed cases with 134 deaths.
