Thanks to overwhelming support from the local community, Newman Regional Health’s N95 mask cover inventory is now full.
According to Newman Director of Business Development McKenzie Cinelli, the community managed to create around 7,000 N95 mask covers after Newman made the request back in late March. Because of this Cinelli says the hospital is no longer in need of mask covers and will no longer be distributing surgical drape to that end.
When asked if she was surprised by the swift and overwhelming community support, Cinelli says she both was and was not.
While the hospital’s supply of N95 mask covers is full up at the moment, Newman is still requesting the community continue to develop and send in cloth masks for everyone who enters the facility.
Cinelli says on a weekly basis the hospital goes through roughly 1,400 cloth masks.
For those who are interested in donating cloth masks, masks can be dropped off at Emporia Main Street. Residents are told to use the clear garage door on Eighth near the butterfly mural to drop off their donations. Call Main Street at 340-6430 or email main.street@emporia-kansas.gov to make arrangements.
