Emporia City Commissioners will have a jam-packed agenda ahead of them for their upcoming action session.
Commissioners will convene Wednesday afternoon during which time they will consider the acceptance of two grants from the federal CARES Act Relief Fund from the Federal Aviation Commission and the US Department of Health and Human Services. Additionally, commissioners will consider an ordinance authorizing a tax exemption status for Simmons Pet Food.
Commissioners previously approved an incentive and compliance agreement with Simmons for the exemption of property taxes on real property associated with Simmons’ 2018-19 expansion. Simmons both completed the expansion and has met all requirements of the agreement according to documents provided to KVOE News.
In other business, commissioners may approve a design and engineering contract with BG Consultants for work on city sanitary sewer lift stations and an airport construction services contract with HW Lochner. Commissioners will also consider a number of bids for an assortment of city projects.
The virtual meeting begins at 1:30 pm and will be available on the city’s Facebook page.
