Emporia State athletics held their end of school year awards night, “Corkys”, Tuesday night.
Instead of with fellow teammates, coaches, family, friends and supporters in attendance in Webb Lecture Hall in the Memorial Union, the Corkys were held via facebook and youtube.
Three athletes were named Athletes of the year. MaKenzie Dimarco, freshman soccer player, is the womens athlete of the year. Jace McDown, junior football player, and Taysean Goodwin , senior track and field athlete, share the mens athlete of the year.
The Hornet Legacy Award, which goes to a senior that exemplifies what it means to be a Hornet, was given to basketball player Morgan Lauden and track and field athlete Luke Stenzel.
The Undergraduate Award of Excellence was given to basketball player Tre’Zure Jobe and track and field athlete Hayden Goodpaster.
Senior basketball player Jessica Wayne was named the Comeback Kid.
The Doc Baxter Award of Excellence was giver to Amber Krehbiel a senior in the athletic training clinical program.
Each coach also recognized the seniors on their team.
Each team selected the best dressed, team comedian, best teammate and most outstanding player.
The members of the 4.0 club, those with the most community service hours and the Chi Alpha Sigma Inductees were also recognized.
