With the uncertainty of COVID-19 continuing scammers are also continuing to take advantage of unsuspecting individuals.
The United States Health and Human Services department warns that they are currently aware of a handful of scams used to steal people’s Medicare numbers as well as other personal information.
Some reported activity includes robocalls offering respiratory masks, social media posts seeking fraudulent donations for non-existent charities, and scammers offering fake test kits, cures, immunity pills, and other personal protective equipment.
USHHS says the best to protect yourself from scams is to guard your Medicare card like it is a credit card, and never give out your information to anyone who calls and asks for it.
If you suspect any fraudulent activity please call 1-800-MEDICARE.
