Fremont Park will not have any concerts from the Emporia Municipal Band this summer.
The band has announced the cancellation of the summer 2020 season after a unanimous decision by the band’s Board of Directors, according to Conductor James Davis. Concerns about coronavirus and its extended community impact are the reason for the decision.
This was supposed to be the band’s 80th year of entertaining the community.
Davis says the band will let the community know when it can practice and perform.
The band’s summer concert season typically runs from late May into July. The band has not made any announcement about its involvement in the Veterans Tribute activities in November or the Christmas concert at the Granada Theatre in December.
