As plans to Reopen Kansas have begun so have plans to begin reopening the Emporia Animal Shelter.
As of this past Monday, the Humane Society announced that the Animal Shelter will begin allowing adoption by appointment. They also announced that animals brought to the shelter on “Stray Hold” can be picked up but arrangements must be made first. The last update provided was the volunteer program will continue to be suspended for the time being.
When speaking with KVOE Caitlin Flood of the Humane Society says that during the stay at home order the Emporia Animal Shelter was lucky to have minimal complications.
Flood continued on to say that even though they haven’t run into any complications the shelter is in need of donations, be it monetary or essential items for the animals. Monetary donations can be made in the form of Humane Society Membership purchase, which costs $15 per month for individuals or $50 per month for businesses.
To contact the shelter for adoptions, pickup, or to make a donation call 620-340-6345 during their business hours 11 am-3 pm. A full list of items needed for donation is available here.
