The Kansas House has announced several committee meetings will take place before the full Legislature reconvenes May 21.
The committees will all consider legislation related to the ongoing coronavirus situation:
*The Appropriations Committee will review funds offered to the state through the $2.2 trillion CARES Act with meetings at 9 am Wednesday and Friday.
*The Commerce, Labor and Economic Development Committee will meet at 1:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday to review the Department of Labor’s unemployment insurance benefits system and its IT infrastructure.
*The Taxation Committee meets at 3:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday to look at property tax transparency, as well as waiving interest penalties for delayed payments.
*The Judiciary Committee will consider liability protections for businesses and health care professionals. It will also look at checks and balances during states of emergency as well as exceptions to the Kansas Open Records Act. Meetings will be at 3:30 pm Wednesday, Friday and May 18.
These meetings will be virtual and will be broadcast on the Legislature’s YouTube channel.
