Wednesday morning rain totals have ranged from light to heavy, and flood warnings are now up for parts of the KVOE listening area south of Emporia.

*West Greenwood County: Flood warning until 5:15 pm. Includes Piedmont
*Southwest Greenwood County: Flood warning until 5 pm
A wide swath of showers and thunderstorms dropped 0.09 inches at the Emporia Municipal Airport during the morning hours Heavy rainfall was also evident on KVOE’s WeatherTAP.com radar in Chase, Marion and Morris counties, and the National Weather Service radar estimates confirming that trend:
*Chase County estimates are from 2 to 2.5 inches in the western third of the county. Much less fell east of Kansas Highway 177
*Greenwood County estimates are roughly half an inch for the northern half of the county to over 2 inches in the southwest corner
*Marion County received between 1 and 2 inches
*Morris County received between 0.50 inches and 1 inch, with 0.44 inches near Council Grove Lake
An unsettled weather pattern is in place until Saturday evening, and heavy rainfall may become the main weather risk for Lyon and surrounding counties. The KVOE studios had picked up close to an inch of rainfall earlier this week along with 2.3 inches of rain last week, while portions fo Chase and Greenwood counties had between 1 and 2 inches of rain Monday and early Tuesday.
Strong to severe thunderstorms are also possible Wednesday evening and again Thursday, but the chances are marginal Wednesday and marginal to slight Thursday. We’ll keep you updated on KVOE, KVOE.com and KVOE social media.
