Several rounds of thunderstorms are in the forecast through Saturday, with the possibility of strong storms and heavy rainfall attached.
A slight risk of severe weather exists areawide for mid-afternoon to early evening Thursday. All hazards are possible, but hail to the size of golf balls and high winds are the main concerns.
There is also a flooding risk. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Coffey County from 7 pm Thursday to 7 am Friday. Greenwood County is in a separate flash flood watch from 6 pm Thursday to 7 pm Saturday. TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers expects widespread heavy rainfall starting Thursday afternoon and going into Saturday.
Parts of the KVOE listening area, specifically western Chase and Greenwood counties, got upwards of 2 to 3 inches of rain Wednesday after getting 1 to 2 inches of rain earlier in the week.
