A Lyon County man escaped harm after his pickup went into a creek north of Emporia early Friday.
An emergency call was logged shortly after 4:10 am. Lyon County Deputy Eric Williams says deputies were called to the 2000 block of Kansas Highway 99, about two miles north of Emporia’s city limits, after a report of a vehicle submerged in water. Deputies found an unoccupied pickup submerged and resting on its roof. The driver, 18-year-old Logan Biggs, was found at a nearby home.
Biggs told investigators he was northbound on Highway 99 when he lost control of the truck, which flipped into a ditch.
Biggs left the truck and went to the house to ask for help. He wound up with minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
