Former Emporia Senior Center director Lannie Lyman is out of prison.
Lyman was sentenced to 17 months in prison before the Kansas Department of Corrections released her on parole in late April after a 9-month term. The department says Lyman earned good time and program credits while incarcerated, thus allowing her release before December 2020 as initially scheduled.
The department also says Lyman’s release was not part of a coronavirus-related house arrest program.
Lyman was sentenced to prison after taking money from the Senior Center during her tenure, which ran from 2014 to September 2017. Initial losses were listed from $80,000 to $120,000 from January 2016 to September 2017. A subsequent audit posted losses at around $115,000.
