Flint Hills Community Health Center is in the process of bringing furloughed staff back to full time.
During the FHCHC Board of Directors monthly meeting Tuesday, Chief Financial Officer Stephanie Ringgold delivered the monthly financial report for April which showed a net gain for the health center of $25,000. This brings the current year-to-date total to $80,000.
Ringgold also stated during the report that so far four staff members who were recently furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic have been brought back in a part-time capacity. This includes the entire dental health clinic with the exception of Dr. Luc Horton who remained on in a part-time capacity after the clinic shifted to emergency operations only following a recommendation by the American Dental Association according to FHCHC CEO Renee Hively.
Hively says furloughs occurred “across the board” at the health center for all departments which were not deemed essential. According to Hively, the current plan is to have Dr. Horton and Dr. Reagan Orr back to full time by the start of June with all furloughed staff hopefully returning to full-time status by Jun. 29.
Hively credits local residents adhering to state and local guidelines as well as strong recent recommendations from the ADA for dental clinics to resume normal operations as major contributors for the health center’s ability to bring back providers and staff members.
In other business, the Board of Directors received the monthly reports from the medical and behavioral health clinics as well as the monthly CQI and quarterly risk assessment reports. Additionally, board members discussed credentialing, job descriptions and a new standing break policy.
The FHCHC Board of Directors will reconvene for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, Jun. 23 at noon. The meeting will likely take place via Zoom.
