The list of local businesses and nonprofits benefiting from the Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund and its work continues to grow.
Sixteen different awards were announced during KVOE’s On-Air Chat on Wednesday after 15 businesses and nonprofits obtained funding last week:
*$2,500 goes to Sunflower Gymnastics
*$2,100 goes to Emporia Rescue Mission
*$1,500 grants go to Charlie’s Place, Family Martial Arts Center, Maud’s Tattoo Company, Mulready’s Pub and Salon Mirage
*$1,000 grants go to All In Fitness 24/7, Copper Top, Crystal Nails and Spa, Dusty Trail Gift Shoppe, Emporia Flea Market and Antiques Flint Hills Lanes, Monarch Tattoo, Rollers and Uniform Collection.
This latest round of funding is over $21,000, pushing the grand total to nearly $130,000 in grant amounts. Emporia Community Foundation Director Becky Nurnberg is impressed with the ongoing pace of donations.
The Greater Emporia Area Disaster Relief Fund is a collaboration involving the Emporia Community Foundation, Emporia Main Street, United Way of the Flint Hills and KVOE. It serves residents in Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, Wabaunsee and Woodson counties.
