Before Governor Laura Kelly turned the Ad Astra phased reopening plan from a directive into an advisory, commissioners originally planned to use Wednesday’s study meeting to start the formal budget process with discussions involving allocation agencies, and they heard from two agency leaders in the meeting after their discussions on COVID-19 ended.
Kansas Legal Services local director Ty Wheeler asked for flat funding of $14,000.
Corner House Director Rod Shepherd, meanwhile, asked for $12,000, also flat from last year’s budget request.
County commissioners have an action session at 8 am Thursday and will continue the budget process with Sheriff Jeff Cope, County Clerk Tammy Vopat, SOS Director Connie Cahoone, Appraiser Ryan Janzen and Crosswinds CEO Amanda Cunningham making presentations.
