Next week will be busy for the David Traylor Zoo.
Director Lisa Keith has already announced a gradual reopening to the general public starting Tuesday and resuming Thursday and Saturday. Keith also says Emporia Friends of the Zoo members can attend Monday as part of a soft opening. Regardless of the day, Keith says there are some new arrivals worth checking out.
Hours for the soft opening and for next week’s public time will be from 10 am to 2 pm.
There will be several new policies and procedures. Masks will be strongly encouraged. Hand sanitizer will be required upon entry and exit. There are also social distancing paw prints eight feet apart at the different exhibits and there will be one-way traffic inside the zoo. Bathrooms and picnic areas will be closed for the time being.
Keith anticipates the zoo will return to its full regular schedule no later than June 22.
