Newman Regional Health’s ongoing work on patient safety has been rewarded with high honors from the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative.
During Wednesday’s monthly Board of Trustees meeting, it was announced the hospital had received the Healthcare Collaborative’s Highest Achievement with Distinction for work to reduce so-called hospital-acquired conditions and preventable readmissions. Hospital CEO Bob Wright commended his staff during the KVOE-Newman Regional Health COVID-19 Community Briefing on Friday.
This is part of a nationwide effort as outlined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Improvement Innovation Network.
Among the stats Wright mentioned during the program was the hospital has now tested more than 1,000 patients for coronavirus. The test came this past Tuesday as part of the Drive Thru operation. Newman Regional Health continues to use that for testing as well as physician offices, ExpressCare, hospital settings, the Respiratory Clinic and Emergency Department. Almost 200 of the tests have resulted in positive cases.
Wright also encouraged residents to get information about the phased reopening of hospital services by going online to www.newmanrh.org/coronavirusreopening. The page includes information about available services, safety precautions, visitation policies, frequently asked questions and the virus itself.
