One person was taken to Newman Regional Health following a two-vehicle accident in eastern Emporia Friday afternoon.
According to Emporia Police Officer Eric Law, a 2015 Nissan Sentra was traveling eastbound on East 7th Avenue when a southbound 2007 Mazda traveling on Cottonwood Street failed to yield. The Mazda then struck the Sentra in the intersection forcing the Sentra onto the curb where it struck a power pole before coming to a rest.
The driver of the Sentra, a 38-year-old female, was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. Officer Law says the woman was complaining of dizziness when emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
No occupants in the Mazda were injured. Evergy crews reported to the scene to inspect the power pole and reported no outages or damages as a result of the accident.
